As the Police Assistant TAC Supervisor, you will be part of a highly skilled team responsible for managing emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching personnel and resources, and supporting officers through accurate communication and documentation. In this role, you'll also take on important leadership responsibilities by assisting the Dispatch Supervisor in overseeing compliance, training, and certification requirements for all UVPD personnel. Summary of Responsibilities
- Receives incoming calls concerning crimes, emergencies, and other requests for police, parking, EMS, and other campus services. Broadcasts calls to patrol officers, instructing them to investigate complaints or requests when appropriate. Enters calls and complaints received into the record management system.
- Monitors alarm systems for all university buildings. Coordinates departmental paging in the event of a campus emergency. Relays radio and telephone messages between police officers and the community. Controls access to the police department and other university secured areas and monitors the department's and the school's closed-circuit camera and intercom systems.
- Trains, tests, and affirms the proficiency of users in order to assure compliance with local, federal, and state regulations. TAC is responsible for creating and administering the training and testing for agency users and maintaining records of such.
- Operates a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer, a computer-aided mobile dispatch (CAD) system, and 800mhz, 450mhz and 150mhz radio consoles. Performs various clerical duties, including completing the electronic dispatch log and filing police reports.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
High School Diploma and six months of related experience or equivalent.
Type a minimum of 40 wpm.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four or more years of dispatching experience.
- EMD EFD, EPD, BLS, EMT, Utah Post Certification, UCJIS, BCI.
- Four or more years of equivalent education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must obtain BCI Basic TAC certification within six months of hire and maintain certification during employment.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Police dispatch, and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) operator functions.
- Knowledge of computer systems (Spillman) used in law enforcement agencies, including NCIC and related equipment.
Skills
- Skills in the principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
- Skills in basic operations, services, and activities of a training program.
- Skills with appropriate office procedures, methods, and equipment knowledge.
- Types a minimum of 40 wpm.
