Assistant Teaching Professor in Finance
The Faculty of Business & Information Technology (FBIT) at Ontario Tech University invites applications from qualified individuals for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Finance. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2026, or as soon as it is filled.
Applicants must possess a PhD degree (or be near completion of) in Finance, Economics, or related field with a strong finance focus. Candidates with Master’s degrees may be considered with the demonstration of subject-matter expertise as reflected in a strong record of peer-reviewed publishing or extensive executive level experience. The successful candidate will have expertise in FinTech (Financial Technology) including but not limited to artificial intelligence (AI) in Finance, cybersecurity in Finance and/or financial data analytics, with interests in related fields such as corporate finance, asset pricing, derivatives, behavioral finance, sustainable finance, risk management, and financial economics. CFA and/or FRM designation are assets.
The role includes teaching and course/curriculum development in finance at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with opportunities in the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Master of Financial Data Analytics (MFDA) programs. Strength in ethical and sustainable finance is an asset.
Candidates must demonstrate outstanding teaching experience or strong potential for being an outstanding teacher. Experience teaching in a Canadian post-secondary environment is desirable.

Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment, and the candidate should have demonstrable skills in the integration of technology and AI into teaching and be able to model those skills in their own teaching and pedagogy. Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, invigilating tests and examinations along with providing service to the university such as through committees. Duties may include the supervision of teaching assistant(s) or mentorship of students in case competitions. The successful candidate will be expected to follow an 70% teaching and 20% service and 10% other workload for the year.
The Faculty is unique in Canada integrating Business and Information Technology strategically within the one faculty and offers honours undergraduate degrees in Commerce (Co-Op) with majors in OBHR, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Accounting, Marketing and Technology Management. Additionally, we offer a Bachelor in Information Technology, with majors in Networking and Security, Game Development and Interactive Media, and Technology Management. At the graduate level, we offer a Master of Business Analytics and AI (MBAI), Master of Financial Data Analytics (MFDA), Master of IT Security degree with an Artificial Intelligence focus (MITS). MSc and PhD programs in Computer Science are offered jointly by the Faculties of Business and IT, and Science. The Faculty also now offers a new PhD in Cybersecurity. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association.
