Assistant Teaching Professor in Geography
The School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning (SGSUP) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible Assistant Teaching Professor position in geography. The position is designated as in-person, located on the Tempe campus. We especially encourage applicants who can contribute to teaching across the geography curriculum. Particular needs at this time include undergraduate lecture and laboratory classes in physical geography, climate & weather, and meteorology. However, we also anticipate opportunities for the new assistant teaching professor to contribute to various courses in human geography, geography capstone, and other elective courses serving our MA degree in geography.
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching in SGSUP’s Geography degree programs in a variety of modalities (in-person, hybrid, and online). The Assistant Teaching Professor will be responsible for eight (8) courses each academic year that will include an array of courses primarily, but not exclusively at the undergraduate level. Some of the course load may include assisting in the development of new courses or transition of existing courses into online teaching modalities. The Assistant Teaching Professor will also maintain a service load of 20% FTE which may include service on unit and/or college committees and supporting student organizations related to geography.
The application deadline is October 19, 2025.
