Assistant Teaching-Track Professor (Beginning or Advanced) in Computational Humanities

As part of an interdisciplinary initiative to strengthen Carnegie Mellon University's leadership in computational humanities, CMU's Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences invites applications for up to two teaching-track positions in computational/digital humanities (starting Fall 2026).

We seek dynamic educators with a demonstrated commitment to teaching computational methods-both foundational and advanced-with applications to the humanities. We are particularly interested in candidates whose pedagogical practice engages computational approaches with humanistic inquiry, including areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data modeling, computational linguistics, historical analysis, and cultural analytics.

The Teaching Track at Carnegie Mellon is a career-focused, non-tenure faculty path with renewable terms and promotion opportunities from Assistant to Teaching Professor. While the role emphasizes teaching, curriculum development, and advising, faculty also have meaningful opportunities to pursue research independently or in collaboration across disciplines. Teaching Track faculty contribute to committees and leadership at the college and university levels. CMU values teaching and offers strong support for developing and assessing innovative educational practices.

Qualifications: Candidates should have a PhD by the start of the appointment. The successful candidate will teach and advise students in our undergraduate and graduate programs.
