GENERAL SUMMARY:
Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (OSUIT) is seeking an individual who can lead key institutional initiatives related to instruction including technology and partnerships, accreditation, and student success to serve as the Assistant Vice President of Instruction, Accreditation, and Student Success. The Assistant Vice President will serve as one of the Provost’s strategic liaisons with the university and the community, cultivating and maintaining strong relationships to ensure partnerships are documented to meet accreditation standards. The Assistant Vice President will be responsible for the strategic oversight and operational execution of assessment and accreditation functions that support student success at OSUIT.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration:
- Develop and implement a strategic vision that aligns with the institution’s mission and goals.
- Support the development and implementation of institutional policies and procedures, collaborating with university leaders, governance groups, and stakeholders across the University.
- Review and evaluate plans and associated budgets to ensure consistency and effective allocation of resources to support institutional priorities.
- Lead the identification and integration of emerging technologies to enhance learning outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Support the Provost in pursuing and documenting partnerships that support the university mission.
- Oversee the development of MOUs and other agreements between OSUIT and partners for the Provost.
- Provide oversight and leadership for departments, (e.g. Institutional Research & Analytics [IRA], Student Retention & Success [SRS], and Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence [CTLE]) that directly report to position, including hiring, training, supervision and evaluation.
- Oversee planning and operations of online learning programs, ensuring quality of online instruction, and developing faculty development initiatives for distance education.
- Serve as the Risk Manager for the OSUIT campus in relationship to Office of Risk Management at OSU-Stillwater and the State of Oklahoma Office of Risk Management.
- Ensures the institution’s fiscal integrity by maintaining thorough internal controls and audits.
- Responsible for comprehensive human resources administration of respective areas of oversight that includes employment, recruiting, benefits counseling, compensation administration, job evaluation, talent development, and employee relations.
- Oversee all operations related to procurement, capital asset inventory, disposition of assets, and surplus auctions.
Compliance/Reporting:
- Monitor key performance indicators and utilize data to inform decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation requirements related to prior learning credit.
- Ensure all instructional technology initiatives comply with accessibility standards, copyright laws, and data privacy regulations.
- Manage continued institutional compliance with SARA guidelines, ensuring continued authorization for distance education in participating states.
- Oversee continuance of the annual SARA reporting process, including data collection and submission to governing bodies.
- Monitor changes in state and federal regulations and provide recommendations for institutional policies.
- Serve as the contact for the liaison to SARA and regional compact organizations, maintaining strong relationships with regulatory agencies.
- Serve as the primary institutional contact for Course Design Standard initiatives.
- Maintain records of review process for hybrid/online courses and provide regular reports on progress and achievements.
- Stay informed on trends and advancements in instructional technology and integrate relevant innovations into institutional practices.
Instructional Technology Coordination:
- Coordinate with other campus units to provide support and expertise for instructional technology.
- Oversee the management and delivery of learning management system (LMS) and related platforms.
- Lead the implementation and integration of the Course Design Standard into the design, delivery, and assessment of online and hybrid courses.
- Oversee instruction and curriculum design in e-learning projects, training programs, and annual conferences.
- Assist faculty in developing curriculum materials and facilitate the selection and installation of educational technology systems.
- Assess the effectiveness of instructional technology initiatives and recommend improvements based on data and feedback.
Faculty Development and Support:
- Advocate for institutional support for innovation in teaching and learning including instructional technology.
- Oversee faculty training on best practices for traditional and distance education.
- Recognize and reward excellence in the use of instructional technology.
Student Success Initiatives:
- Design and implement strategies to improve student retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
- Support programs that enhance student academic achievement and overall well-being.
- Support adult or non-traditional learners through prior learning credit pathways.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
- Work closely with deans, department heads, faculty, staff, and industry partners to achieve academic goals.
- Serve as liaison to external partners, including school districts, universities, and industry.
- Collaborate with Technology Services, faculty, and administrative units to support institutional initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Doctorate degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of full-time higher education teaching experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant, successful administrative leadership experience (e.g., department head, dean, or equivalent).
- Record of experience with program accreditation and assessment.
- Record of experience leading student success and concurrent initiatives.
- Record of experience in developing and executing agreements with university partners including school districts and other universities.
- Record of experience in the design and implementation of instructional technology across all modalities.
- Record of experience supporting or administering Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) programs.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills with an exceptional ability to analyze, plan, coordinate, articulate, and execute complex projects and initiatives.
- Provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for the integration of technology into curriculum and instructional approaches.
- Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, management, and decision-making skills.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coordinate, manage and motivate diverse, high-performing teams.
- Understand the complexities of university academic programming, assessment, accreditation, and higher education compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and sensitivity to confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, and public/student contact.
- Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Communication Skills:
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively recognize and resolve conflict.
Licensure/Certification:
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.
- Travel required.
- Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.
Physical Requirements:
- Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking, and listening.
- Duties require extensive use of computers, telephone, and other office equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

- Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in finalizing MOUs or articulation agreements between higher education and other partners
- Successful experience in accreditation
- Successful experience with SARA compliance and distance education regulations
- Successful experience in leading the development and implementation of instructional technology strategies to enhance instruction
- Successful experience in student success initiatives that lead to increased persistence and graduation rates
- Successful experience in evaluating prior learning credits, including transfer, military, or experiential learning
- Record as a successful higher education administrator with over ten combined years of experience as a department head and dean.
