Eligible candidates must:
- fulfil the criteria set forth in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668; hereinafter referred to as “the Act”)
- declare that the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań will be their primary place of employment
- boast significant artistic achievements (possibly including teaching and organisational achievements).
Specific Requirements
Candidates are requested to submit the following documents to the Office of the Institute of String Instruments and Artistic Lutherie, room D117 (tel. +48 61 85 68 933):
- Application Letter
- Personal Data Form
- Artistic CV with information on foregoing professional career
- Diploma of higher education with a Master of Arts degree in Viola
- Diploma of obtaining a doctoral degree in the discipline of Musical Arts
- List of artistic achievements (possibly including teaching and organisational achievements)
- Statement of Legal Compliance confirming fulfilment of the requirements specified in Article 113(1) of the Act, including the conditions set forth in Article 20(1), points 1–3 (full legal capacity, public rights, no criminal record for intentional offenses or fiscal crimes)
- Declaration of Primary Employment stating that the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań will be the Candidate’s primary place of employment pursuant to Article 120(2) of the Act.

Additional Information
Selection process
The competition includes a practical exam that comprises:
Round 1
Performance of the following pieces:
- Any caprice for solo viola
- Movement No. 1 from a classical concerto with a cadency: C. Stamitz – Concerto in D Major or F.A. Hoffmeister – Concerto in D Major
- A 20th-century concerto for viola and orchestra: W. Walton – Viola Concerto or B. Bartok – Viola Concerto
The Academy does not provide accompanists. In case of cyclical works the board reserves the right to select the movements to be performed.
Round 2
- Conducting a lesson with a student; the piece to work on shall be sent to the Candidates after they have qualified to Round 2; the illustrator shall be provided by the Academy.
Round 3
An interview
The deadline for submission of applications is 3rd September 2026.
Candidates shall be notified of the date and venue of the competition proceedings by e-mail no later than 4th September 2026. The competition results will be announced no later than 18th September 2026. The Academy reserves the right to reject an application without stating the reason.
