Offer Description
The Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan announces an open competition for the position of Assistant in the Department of Animation, Faculty of Animation.
The competition is open to candidates who meet the requirements set out in Article 119 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and §83 and §§103–108 of the Statute of UAP.

Job Description / Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out teaching, artistic, and organizational duties within the Department, in particular by:
- Supporting the teaching process and artistic-research activities in the field of animation and broadly understood moving image;
- Participating in the preparation and delivery of classes, workshops, and consultations with students;
- Co-implementing artistic, research, and inter-faculty projects conducted within the Department;
- Supporting students in developing artistic projects, based on principles of partnership, creative experimentation, and critical thinking;
- Co-creating and coordinating the Department’s social media presence, including preparing promotional materials and contributing to communication strategies;
- Assisting in documenting and archiving the Department's artistic, teaching, and academic activities;
- Actively participating in the life of the Department, including the organization of artistic events, reviews, exhibitions, screenings, and other initiatives;
- Performing assigned tasks with high ethical standards, openness to dialogue, and collaboration.
As part of the employment, on a secondment basis, the successful candidate will conduct classes in the 2D Animation postgraduate program.
Specific Requirements
Candidate Requirements / Qualifications
Candidates applying for the position should meet the following criteria:
- Master’s degree in Visual Arts, with a particular focus on animation, film, or photography;
- Documented artistic achievements in the field of animated film, motion design, or other forms of the moving image;
- Knowledge of art history and theory, contemporary visual practices, and core concepts in aesthetics, image theory, and cultural studies;
- Ability to manage the complete conceptual and creative process of a film project (particularly those utilizing animation techniques) – from concept development and pre-production materials (script, storyboard, animatic) through production to post-production and final presentation;
- Proficiency in 2D animation software, including traditional/hand-drawn animation, compositing, and video editing software;
- Ability to combine various animation and filmmaking techniques, along with basic knowledge of sound design/editing, camera operation, and set work;
- Strong skills in film analysis and interpretation;
- Aptitude for teaching and academic work, based on collaborative partnership with students, fostering critical thinking, and encouraging creative experimentation;
- Openness to interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly with fields related to new technologies and new media;
- Active artistic profile, proven by participation in national or international exhibitions, showcases, or film and art festivals;
- Good command of spoken and written English.

The Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan reserves the right to invite only shortlisted candidates for an interview without notifying the remaining applicants, as well as the right to inform only the successful candidate of the final outcome. The employment decision remains at the sole and sovereign discretion of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts Poznan and does not require justification.
Selection Procedure
The selection procedure includes:
- Presentation of original artistic works (or their documentation), particularly within the discipline corresponding to the position;
- An interview with the candidate.
Evaluation & Decision
The Selection Committee will evaluate the candidates' knowledge of art, artistic achievements, and teaching aptitude, and will subsequently select the candidate to be appointed as Assistant at the Faculty of Animation.
The Committee reserves the right to declare the competition unresolved (without selecting any candidate).
Occupational Health Requirement
The successful candidate will be required to obtain a medical certificate of fitness for work for the specified position. Should the selected candidate fail to obtain such a certificate, the University reserves the right to offer the position to the candidate next in line on the competition ranking list.
