Assistant/Associate Dean of Student Services

Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) , in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates , invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant/Associate Dean of Student Services . Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a highly qualified and passionate senior academic officer to provide strategic leadership for the Office of Student Services at ICOM. This individual will assist the Dean and Chief Academic Officer in the leadership and…

administration of the College and is responsible for administering, directing and supervising the departments of Student Affairs, Financial Aid, Registrar, Learning Specialist and Counseling programs.

Serving as a key member of the leadership team, the Assistant/Associate Dean will champion a student-centered environment, act as a trusted liaison between students, faculty, and administration, and guide the development of programs, policies, and services that support student success across the continuum of medical education. Responsibilities:

Supervises the Director of Student Affairs, Director of Financial Aid, Registrar, Learning and Behavioral Health Specialists and all regular classified and temporary hourly staff under their direction.
Provide leadership and administration for ICOM and the Office of Student Services to include strategic planning, personnel administration, fiscal management, and student policies.
Serve on various committees.
Serve as a liaison between the student body, faculty and administration, on matters affecting students; act as an advocate for students.
Assist the Dean in development and implementation of the School’s mission and objectives.
Provide advice and guidance on Student Life.
Gather data, conduct program assessment, compile information, and prepare and present reports., including related to programmatic accreditation.
Provide budget management, planning, assessment, goals and strategies.
Make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Work and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Develop operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Manage workflow in the Office of Student Services.
Read, understand, follow, enforce and interpret complex regulations, policies and procedures.
Maintain effective supervisory relationships.
Manage complex budgets including determining costs, allocations, expenditures and monitoring processes for multiple units with various types of budget sources.
Formulate short- and long-range goals and policy.
Develop and implement new strategies and procedures to meet the mission and goals of the Office of Student Services.
Provide leadership and oversight of the ICOM Alumni Association.
Maintain confidential or highly sensitive information in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Foster a cooperative work environment.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in a relevant field and at least (7) seven years of related experiences that include supervisory and staff development responsibilities in a medical school.
Previous experience in Osteopathic or Allopathic Medical College.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proven leadership abilities.
Strong Interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to contribute to staff growth and development.
Ability to organize, direct, prioritize and delegate work appropriately.
Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in challenging situations.
Strong knowledge base in Student Services development and continuous improvement.
Budget Management experience.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Proven ability to relate well with a diverse student population and other constituencies.
Ability to maintain high energy level and enthusiasm for ICOM.
Ability to respond to difficult situations calmly and with credibility.
Respect for and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to travel throughout the year, including weekends and evenings.
Familiarity with AOA COCA accreditation requirements preferred.
