About the Department
The Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) Department consists of 21 full-time faculty, 3 full-time staff and 2 part-time staff, and houses three accredited undergraduate programs with mandatory co-op: Architectural Engineering (234 students), Civil Engineering (399 students), and Construction Management (412 students). The CAECM Department also houses the Civil Engineering M.Eng., M.S., and Ph.D. graduate programs, as well as the Architectural Engineering M.Eng. program, with 85 graduate students across programs.
Job Overview
The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Educator position in Structural Engineering. Appointment rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment has the possibility to begin as early as August 15, 2026.
The Educator track at the University of Cincinnati emphasizes excellence in teaching and student engagement, innovative pedagogy, and applied learning. The workload for the position is expected to be 90% teaching and 10% service, with no expectation of obtaining research funding.
Essential Functions
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering such as but not limited to: statics, strength of materials, structural analysis, and reinforced concrete design
- Develop and enhance curriculum to reflect current industry practices and emerging technologies
- Implement active, experiential, and project-based learning approaches
- Contribute to program assessment, accreditation (e.g., ABET), and continuous improvement processes
- Advise and mentor students, including student professional organizations such as ASCE and Structural Engineers Association of Ohio
- Participate in service to the department, college, and profession
Minimum Requirements
Prior to the effective date of the appointment, Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
