Assoc. Director, Career and Professional Development Programs
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Director will design and implement a curriculum of career and professional development programs and assessment tools to guide School of Law students in creating personal career plans, employment search strategies, and developing the skills to successfully execute summer and post-graduate employment searches and conduct life-long career management.
The Associate Director will also develop and execute, in collaboration with the Associate Dean, a communications strategy to increase student engagement with career resources and understanding of the timelines for using them effectively.
Analysis of information about hiring practices and trends across employer types will also be conducted and incorporated into Career Development Office (CDO) programs, initiatives and student informational materials.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
The Associate Director will work in an office environment. Typing and light physical effort required. Some night and weekend work and some travel required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful Associate Director will develop and maintain successful relationships with a variety of constituents using the following.
- Ability to design and present engaging programs focused on self-assessment, the development of professional skills and career topics.
- Knowledge of the legal employment market, legal hiring and professional development practices.
- A demonstrated passion for student engagement, mentoring and training.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional written and oral communication ability.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid computer skills, including facility with of the MSWord Suite, web-based software, and social media.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- J.D. or L.L.M.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute professional events.
- Experience communicating with accomplished professionals and leaders.
Preferred:
- 0 - 2 years of law practice, legal recruiting, legal professional development, training or career advising experience.
- 1 - 2 years of communications or marketing experience.
- Experience in higher education administration.
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 7 ($55,640.00 to $82,784.00 annually)
Scheduled Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm; 38.75 hrs per week. Some travel required and occasional evening or weekends, as needed.
