Position Summary

The Associate Academic Dean will serve as a key strategic partner supporting the operational excellence and academic development of the Institute. This role offers significant leadership responsibilities with a clear pathway to senior leadership positions, including potential advancement to Academic Dean or other executive roles based on performance and institutional needs.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership & Quality Support

• Assist in maintaining and enhancing academic standards across programmes
• Lead specific academic initiatives and quality assurance projects
• Support accreditation processes and regulatory compliance
• Contribute to strategic academic planning and policy development
• Deputize for the Executive Dean when required

Faculty Development & Mentorship

• Oversee faculty recruitment, onboarding, and professional development programmes
• Mentor junior faculty members and support their career progression
• Coordinate teaching excellence initiatives and pedagogical innovation
• Facilitate cross-cultural collaboration between Chinese and UK faculty

Curriculum Innovation & Student Success

• Lead curriculum review and enhancement projects
• Drive innovation in teaching methodologies and assessment practices
• Ensure alignment with industry needs and healthcare sector developments
• Support student academic success initiatives and pastoral care programmes
• Oversee student feedback mechanisms and quality improvement

Operational Excellence

• Manage day-to-day academic operations and administrative functions
• Coordinate between academic departments and administrative units
• Lead specific portfolios (e.g., research, international partnerships, student affairs)
• Contribute to budget planning and resource allocation decisions

Strategic Partnerships & Engagement

• Build relationships with healthcare institutions and industry partners
• Support international collaboration and exchange programmes
• Represent the Institute at conferences and professional forums
• Contribute to the Institute's reputation and visibility

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

1. Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in relevant health sciences field
2. Minimum 5 years of academic experience with demonstrated teaching excellence
3. 3+ years in academic leadership or administrative roles
4. Strong understanding of quality assurance and accreditation processes in the UK
5. Excellent communication skills in English (Chinese language skills advantageous)
6. Proven ability to work effectively in cross-cultural environments

Desirable:

1. Experience in international or joint-venture educational institutions
2. Track record of curriculum development and innovation
3. Research background with active scholarly engagement
4. Knowledge of both Western and Chinese medical education systems
5. Leadership development or executive education credentials
