Associate/Assistant Professor in Department of Medicinal Food and Nutrition Sciences
The Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS) / State Key Laboratory of Mechanism and Quality of Chinese Medicine (MQCM) invites applications for academic positions at the rank of Associate/Assistant Professor. ICMS / MQCM is a prominent academic center for research and education in Chinese medicine, natural products, and biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. In line with our commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and education, we will establish the Department of Medicinal Food and Nutrition Sciences, which will provide both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. This new academic unit will serve as a platform for cultivating talent and fostering innovation in food and nutrition sciences, with a distinctive emphasis on integrating modern nutritional science and the traditional Chinese concept of ‘medicine and food from the same source’ (藥食同源). The department will focus on uncovering the scientific mechanisms and translational applications of medicinal foods, functional nutrition, and dietary interventions rooted in Chinese medicine. Through these efforts, the department will promote standardized and scalable nutrition-based health strategies, contributing to the high-quality development of the medicinal food industry in Macau and the Greater Bay Area. The successful applicant will play a vital role in leading high-impact research, developing interdisciplinary curricula, and engaging in collaborative projects that align with our strategic vision. This is a unique opportunity to help build a department that reflects the evolving landscape of nutrition science and its transformative role in public health.
Qualifications
- A PhD degree in Food and Nutrition Sciences or a related field.
- Study or research experiences at globally renowned institutions.
- A proven track record of exceptional accomplishments in scientific research.
- Expertise in the study of medicinal food development, functional nutrition, or translational nutrition science is highly desirable.
- Candidates with extensive teaching experience in food and nutrition science will be strongly preferred.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in Spring 2027.
Remuneration
A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
