Associate Bioinformatician - Cancelas Lab

The Associate Bioinformatician is training to become a Bioinformatician and works under the direct supervision of a manager.

The Bioinformatician is a quantitative informatics professional who specializes in the acquisition, management, classification, processing, integration, analysis, and distribution of complex and/or large-scale biological data, and the relevant software tools, databases, and other systems needed to support this work.

Relevant data types may include nucleic acid or protein sequences, RNA expression, other ”omics data types, molecular or clinical imaging, high-throughput screening, text, lab results, digital health, and other clinical and operational data. The Bioinformatician may work in support of research or operational projects.

Responsible for routine informatics tasks, including:

  • Data analysis, data management, data visualization, or processing of large-scale biological, medical, and/or operational data.
  • Generation of written and graphical reports for review by manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Computational and data analysis: Familiarity.
  • Data management and/or software engineering: Familiarity.
  • Collaboration and communication: Able to discuss and present results in informal settings, share ideas accurately and communicate them effectively, both in writing and verbally with supervisory oversight.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good analytical, organizational and time management skills.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree required in a STEM field required.

Minimum Education:
No prior experience required.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
