Cheyney University is seeking a dynamic and energetic Associate Dean for its newly created Center for Excellence and Transformation in Teaching and Learning (CETTL). This position reports directly to the Provost. This person is responsible for collaborating with faculty and administration to plan, direct, and oversee the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of research-based programming. They will elevate teaching and learning including the application of instructional and research technologies. The Associate Dean will provide visionary leadership and engage in partnerships across the academic enterprise to strengthen faculty development programming. They will promote innovation and excellence in teaching and learning, with an emphasis on the use of data to inform and evaluate efforts to improve student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate and implement research-based best practices in teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and staff on matters related building and maintaining a robust and effective Center that supports instructional excellence.
- Direct academic program reviews; conduct faculty development needs assessments; and provides instructional design guidance through inclusive leadership practices grounded in the principles of shared governance.
- Develop and manage the Center’s budget.
Other duties as assigned, commensurate with position classification.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, educational leadership or instructional design, or related field.
- Five years of full-time equivalent experience in educational leadership or instructional design and development, which includes program development, assessment, and evaluation.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development, Organizational Development, or a closely related field.
- Three (3) or more years of strategic leadership experience in a teaching and learning center or similar academic support environment.
- Demonstrated experience conducting program review, learner, and task analysis, and using data to inform continuous improvement of teaching and learning support programming.
- Experience teaching and/or developing online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses in higher education, with knowledge of various instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, backward design, Universal Design for Learning).
- Demonstrated experience with assessment methodologies for evaluating educational programs, with a focus on data utilization.
- Demonstrated experience using, implementing, or managing learning management systems (LMS) and a wide range of instructional and educational technologies that support teaching excellence, student learning, and academic success.
- Demonstrated experience designing, delivering, and evaluating faculty development programs, including workshops, webinars, training sessions, and communities of practice focused on teaching, learning, and instructional innovation.
- Demonstrated success establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with faculty, staff, and administrators. Comprehensive understanding of shared governance in theory and practice.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, budget development and management, and promoting a collaborative work environment.
