Your opportunity:

The Advancement and Alumni Relations office is responsible for fundraising and alumni engagement efforts at the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, which includes the Varsity Blues intercollegiate sports programs. The advancement team works to strengthen pride of association with KPE and the Blues, and boost philanthropic support of the Faculty’s academic and co-curricular priorities. Through a range of programs, events and special initiatives, we raise awareness among current and prospective donors, alumni, volunteers and friends regarding the importance of investing in the Faculty and our students. Our office engages in cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with all stakeholders and building on the positive associations our alumni have with the University.

Under the direction of the Director,Advancement, the Associate Director, Development at the Faculty Kinesiology and Physical Education will manage a portfolio of donors and prospects to be solicited in support of both curricular and co-curricular (i.e. athletic) priorities of the Faculty. The Associate Director, Development is responsible for developing and implementing donor engagement plans and customized campaign activities that support strategic objectives, as well as effectively cultivating and stewarding current and prospective majorgift donors. The Associate Director, Development will provide leadership of the Faculty’s stewardship program, including student and athletic award reporting and donor recognition, as well as oversight of the annual giving and leadership annual giving program (with supervision of the Development Officer, AG/LAG). Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting face-to-face with current and potential donorsto discuss giving interests and opportunities
  • Experience designing and implementing successful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Leading all stages of proposal development for the advancement portfolio
  • Buildingand strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Managing the stewardship program for the Faculty (curricular and co-curricular), including annual recognition event and award/gift reports
  • Developing and implementing donor engagement plans that support strategic objectives
  • Providing oversight of the gift planning program for the Faculty as well as the annual and leadership annual giving program

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Six to seven years directly related experience in a senior fundraising role.
  • Demonstrated experience with major gift development ($25,000+)
  • Proven track record of success
  • Experience managing senior level volunteers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications (both written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to establish collaborative and productive relationships with the administration and faculty in order to advance interests
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
