Associate Director, Financial Aid
Position Details
The Office of Financial Aid has a position available for an Associate Director (Operations) who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to supervise financial aid Assistant Director (Operations) and Staff Assistant positions, train new staff and provide support to the Director. This position is also responsible for counseling students on their aid options. Attention to providing a positive customer experience and quality assurance in aid processing is necessary. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for the functioning of the financial aid department in the absence of the Director.
- Hire, train and supervise Assistant Director (Operations) and Staff Assistant positions.
- Provides back up to these positions in their absence.
- Assist Director in the administration and maintenance of the financial aid management system.
- Assist with the interpretation of federal and state regulations, and implement procedures to ensure compliance.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain reports as needed.
- Prepare and conduct financial aid presentations for parent and student groups on and off campus (some travel may be necessary).
- All duties and responsibilities assigned to Financial Aid Counselors, including maintaining full counseling population and processing all aspects of financial aid.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Masters preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to higher education and specifically student aid programs.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a financial aid counselor or superior position in a regionally accredited private higher education setting (private preferred).
- Excellent written, oral, organizational and interpersonal skills needed, as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
- Knowledge of student information systems and ability to troubleshoot errors.
- Ability to use sound judgement and work independently.
- Strong public relations, customer service, and public speaking skills.
- Accounting knowledge helpful.
- Flexible lifestyle that allows for occasional required travel, evening and weekend work.
- Valid driver's license and vehicle required.
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
