Are you a Technology Strategy Lead or Enterprise Architect looking for your next challenge? This is a rare opportunity for a highly experienced technology strategist to join The University of Queensland’s Information Technology Services division, working collaboratively within a community of SMEs, and playing a key role in shaping future technology planning and architecture.
The Associate Director, IT Planning and Architecture is accountable for establishing and leading UQ’s enterprise technology planning and architecture function, ensuring alignment between institutional strategy, investment decisions and technology delivery across the University. The role will work closely with domain leads, solution architects and project managers to implement and govern the University’s technology investment and change portfolio and supporting ways of working. This position works closely with a broad and diverse range of University stakeholders, and IT subject matter experts to advise on architecture governance, capability models and technology roadmaps that align with the University’s strategic intent and deliver the best value to UQ.

About You
You are a visionary and collaborative technology leader with extensive experience shaping enterprise architecture and planning functions in complex organisations. With a postgraduate qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience, you bring deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks, tools, and methodologies, alongside a strong track record of influencing strategic decision-making at senior levels.
You are an empathetic and engaging communicator, known for your ability to build trusted relationships and guide diverse stakeholders toward shared outcomes. Your experience spans leading teams, driving transformation initiatives, and delivering high-quality outcomes in dynamic environments. You are curious, forward-thinking, and motivated by the opportunity to create meaningful change through technology. You are able to apply your deep experience in practical ways to meet an organisation where it is at and support the next step in maturity uplift. Experience within the higher education sector will be advantageous but is not essential.
