As required, the associate director acts in the Director's absence and represents the University externally.
This position is grant-funded through August 15, 2028, with the possibility of renewal upon the grant's expiration. Texas A&M University–Central Texas is committed to retaining this position after the grant ends, provided it is financially feasible.
A Presidential Proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on all new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025, and Texas A&M University–Central Texas will not pay this fee. Additionally, a moratorium issued by Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026, restricts the filing of new H-1B petitions unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Responsibilities
- Serves as part of the department's leadership team.
- Leads strategic planning for assigned areas and assists the Director in developing and implementing overall departmental strategic plans. Central duties include program development and increasing external partnerships.
- Responsible for annual budget preparation and expense control for the Military Talent Pipeline to comply with statute and regulations associated with different funding sources. Provides input into the overall department budget.
- Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate the success of areas of responsibility. Such work could include developing reports, analyses, and surveys for the Director.
- Assists the Director in formulating and implementing policies and procedures. Supervises and directs staff and activities of project teams or functional areas. Duties include supervision of select contractual workforce and the Grant research & development.
- Oversees the coordination of programs, ensuring program goals are consistent with departmental and University missions. These include liaising and supporting the University's Military and Veteran Services office and ROTC detachment.
- Serves on various University, division, and departmental committees and represents the department at various State and National associations. Some travel is required.
- Ensures compliance with department, University, and government standards, policies, and procedures.
- Completes special projects as requested by the Director and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eight years of related experience.
Preferred Qualification
- Master's degree or higher
- Experience in Higher Education as faculty or administration
- Experience in workforce development or program development
- Experience with Public-Private partnership
- 7 or more years of supervisor experience
- 5 or more years of management experience (multiple organizational reports)
- Demonstrated civic/government or community engagement history
- Experience working with the military or Department of Defense preferred.
Salary and Hours
Salary: $101,000.00
Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Nights and weekends as needed.
Supervision of Others: This position does supervise employees.
Work Location: This is not a remote position. The selected candidate will be required to work on campus.
