The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between traditional media relations and modern digital content creation-leveraging raw, narrative-driven short-form video, strategic campus integration and high-impact visual branding to elevate Lafayette's national profile.
Key Responsibilities
Football Sports Information Director
- Serve as the primary media contact and strategic communications manager for the Lafayette Football program.
- Manage football press box operations, game-day credentials, stats management and post-game media availability for coaches/student-athletes.
- Write, edit, and distribute game notes, press releases and feature stories.
- Manage football statistics, historical record-keeping and conference/NCAA reporting requirements.
Social Media Strategy & Creative Content Production
- Assist the Director of Athletic Communications manage the new content strategies for all athletic social media accounts (primary: @GoLeopards).
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and execute cutting-edge graphics and visual assets under tight, deadline-driven timelines.
- Set and track key performance indicators for social growth, active engagement rates and video reach.
- Capture high-emotion content through mic'd up practices, locker room celebrations and behind-the-scenes content.
- Supervise student creative assistants, game day staff and freelance videographers/photographers.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, Marketing, Digital Media or a related field required.
- Experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience in athletic communications, sports media relations or digital content creation (collegiate athletics experience preferred).
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (cite: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Mastery of statistical software (NCAA Live Stats).
- Direct experience operating professional photography and videography equipment.
- Core Competencies:
- Deep understanding of short-form video algorithms and emerging social media trends.
- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and travel extensively with teams.
