Position Summary

Supervised by the Director of Facilities, this position is
responsible for coordinating, planning, organizing, and directing the following functions within University Housing: 1) security systems and
access control, 2) security (patrol), 3) project coordination and 4) engineering. University Housing facilities oversees the operations of
23 residence halls, 20 apartment buildings, four Greek Houses and other facilities dispersed throughout the UGA main and health science
campuses.

This position shall aid in the development and vision of team and efficiency improvements that will better serve over 9,000
residents. This includes training and providing career growth to staff and ensuring the residential facilities support a proper experience
as outlined within the departmental mission. This position ensures the alignment of departmental security philosophies with solutions within
the built environment and personnel adoption of supporting procedures and practices. This position serves as a member of the department's
Management Team.

Preferred Education/Experience

• Master's degree and seven years of progressively
  responsible experience in a related field. Significant leadership and operational experience gained through military service or other
  structured organizations will be considered.
• Extensive experience in the development and execution of facilities related project
  management.
• Experience with the collegiate residential experience.

Duties/Responsibilities

(20%)
Security systems and access control

• Supervise the security systems and access control manager and five indirect
  reports (two security systems integrators, two locksmiths, and one access control coordinator).
• Aligns the functions of security
  systems with departmental philosophy, policy and vision. Coordinates efforts to develop and implement departmental vision of security and
  related systems integration, support and oversight.
• Aids in the development of work standards and standard operating procedures that
  support the overall expected image of University Housing. Provides leadership and direction to ensure security systems and access control
  are maintained in a manner supporting the mission and purpose.
• Acquires and applies general and thorough knowledge of the condition
  of security systems to ensure the manager and subsequent reports are effectively directed and supported. Ensure adopted physical security
  solutions are provided proper oversite from cradle to grave.

(20%) Security

• Supervise and provide
  strategic leadership and oversight to the security manager and subsequent staff (three sr. security guards and twelve security
  guards).
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, university policies, departmental policies with the general practices
  and procedures of security.
• Aligns the functions of security patrol with departmental philosophy, policy and vision. Coordinates
  efforts to develop and implement departmental vision of security and related systems integration, support and oversight.
• Ensure
  prompt and effective responses to student contacts. Ensure record of contacts remain in compliance with policy.
• Ensure security
  staff are properly trained in both procedures, adopted industry practices and conform to the overall departmental mission.

(20%) Supervision

• Actively promote and participate in the development, retention & engagement of each staff
  member.
• Direct and advise recruiting and hiring strategies within each area of responsibility.
• Responsible for employee
  relations, staffing plans, communication and compliance with organization policies and procedures.

(15%) Project
coordination

• Supervise and provide strategic leadership and oversight to the projects manager and subsequent reports
  (four project coordinators and one project support specialist).
• Represent University Housing with campus partners such as the Office
  of University Architects, Facilities Management Division and Procurement on projects utilizing contract authority.
• Aid in the
  development and coordination of the departmental facilities renew plans.
• Compile and present strategic facilities improvement plans
  with core departmental, divisional and university administrators.
• Ensure adoption of procedures and practices that support
  departmental visibility of proposed and approved projects.
• Ensure project staff are prepared and remain capable in their field of
  work.

(15%) Facilities Engineering

• Supervise and provide strategic oversight of the Facilities
  Engineer and subsequent staff (two full-time engineers and student engineering staff).
• Ensure asset management strategies support
  the mission of the department. Coordinate efforts to establish multi-year plans for asset renewal with departmental
  leadership.
• Ensure the completion of engineering related tasks meet the department's needs and leadership
  expectations.
• Ensure the development and implementation of asset renewal plans. Present findings to departmental, divisional and
  university administrators.
• Provide strategic oversight of technology adoption as pertains to the management of facilities.

(10%) Administrative support and other duties

• Participate in the annual Plant Fund planning for
  expenditures necessary to accomplish the goals of this position.
• Ensure charges and expenditures from the Housing Facilities
  accounts are appropriate and accurate.
• Align the practices of each function with associated departmental philosophies. Aid in the
  continued development of philosophy and adopted practices.
• Perform related work as required based on duties consistent with the
  purpose of the position.
