Associate Director of Thrive Coaching
The Center for Student Thriving (CST) Associate Director (AD) of Thrive Coaching will provide personalized Life coaching based on student thriving elements to empower students to achieve their goals and be champions for Christ. The AD of Thrive Coaching will oversee and facilitate the student peer coaches and report to the Director and the Senior Associate Director of CST. The AD of Thrive Coaching must have a clear understanding of student development theory and practice, policies and procedures relating to holistic student development, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The AD must keep the Director of CST abreast of any programming issues. Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, an AD of Thrive Coaching is directly responsible to the Director of CST in whatever areas deemed necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work under the direction of the Director and Senior AD of CST to ensure the ethical standards of the Life Coaching services are followed.
- Oversee and manage Thrive Coaching Case Load.
- Develop, train, and lead peer Thrive Coaching program.
- Manage student peer coaches who are participating in CSER Credit.
- Oversee Case Management for Thrive Coaching.
- Assist with data collection and/or conduct surveys on the Thrive Coaching program to evaluate its effectiveness.
- Will collaborate with other offices and departments on campus to promote Thrive Coaching.
- Will collaborate with other CST staff to develop marketing and social media campaigns to promote Thrive coaching services.
- Assist in writing grants and/or finding grants to fund the department’s holistic student development programming.
- Attend annual training/conferences, with an emphasis on presenting.
- Conduct research related to student development practices in higher education.
- Maintain necessary records/files for Thrive Coaching cases.
- Work cooperatively and communicate with Student Affairs staff.
- Assist administration with student-related issues/resolutions (President, Student Advocate Office, International Student Office, etc.)
- Act as liaison to faculty, staff, and administration concerning Thrive Coaching.
- Attend departmental and official Liberty University meetings as required.
- Remain abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks.
- Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for the shared supervision of student Christian Service Volunteers and peer coaching students.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
- A master’s degree with a concentration in life coaching, higher education, student development, counseling, or a related field
- Mid-level management experience and/or student development-related experience in a management capacity, is required.
- Strong working knowledge of ICF Life Coaching standards, institutional assessment and educational trends related to higher education preferred.
- ICF Accredited Life Coach preferred, but not required. Well-developed communication skills.
- 1+ years of experience in Life Coaching or a related field is preferred but not required.

- Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government, and community customers and associates.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook and has a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and related software.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience.
- Discretion and the ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to train and coach others.

- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities
- Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stand to conduct business.
- Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate.
Driving Requirements
Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
