Job Description
City University of Seattle in Canada's Master of Counselling (MC) program in Victoria, BC, is seeking experienced Associate Faculty to join a small, dedicated, and innovative team of educators.
The Victoria campus is located on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, including the Esquimalt, Songhees, and W\_SNEC First Nations.
We are seeking counselling professionals who bring current clinical experience, strong teaching experience with adult learners, and expertise in a counselling-related practice area. Associate Faculty teach graduate-level courses on a course-by-course basis and play an important role in preparing future counselling professionals for clinical practice.
About the Role
Associate Faculty teach courses related to core counselling proficiencies, assessment, counselling skills, clinical practice, and other areas of the counselling field. Course assignments are based on program needs and faculty expertise; teaching assignments are not guaranteed from term to term or from academic year to academic year.
Successful Associate Faculty may have opportunities to take on additional or longer-term teaching responsibilities based on program needs, performance, and experience.

- Group Counselling
- Psychopathology and Psychopharmacology
- Clinical Supervision
- Testing and Assessment
- Research Methods and Statistics
- Counselling Research Capstone
Teaching Responsibilities
Associate Faculty are expected to:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction that supports graduate student learning.
- Connect academic theory, research, and clinical practice.
- Foster student development and professional growth.
- Maintain currency in their professional field and area of teaching.
- Participate in the academic community and work collaboratively with faculty and program leadership.
- Use appropriate teaching technologies and Learning Management Systems to support effective learning.
Requirements
What You'll Bring
We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated success as both counselling professionals and educators.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or doctoral degree in counselling, psychology, clinical social work, or a closely related field.
- Current registration with an appropriate professional regulatory body.
- At least five years of clinical practice after registration, plus meaningful professional experience in the counselling field.
- At least two years of experience providing instruction to adult learners in classroom and/or online settings.
- Demonstrated success and effectiveness as an instructor, educator, or facilitator.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge counselling theory and clinical practice in a graduate-level learning environment.
- Current knowledge and professional experience in at least one area relevant to counselling practice.
- Ability to work effectively within an established curriculum and course framework.
- Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to create an engaging learning environment for a diverse population of graduate students.
- Cultural competence and demonstrated ability to work respectfully with diverse students, faculty, and communities.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Experience teaching in a graduate counselling or related program is an asset.
- Doctoral degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with diverse pedagogical approaches and adult learning principles.
- Experience teaching both in-person and online courses is an asset.
- Comfort with digital teaching environments, including Learning Management Systems, presentation technology, and audiovisual equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technology used to support teaching and learning.
- Ability to support students with academic-related questions and concerns and contribute to student success and retention.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining currency in the counselling profession.

Work Environment and Schedule
- Location: Victoria, British Columbia
- Delivery: In-person and mixed-mode
- Courses may be scheduled on weekdays, evenings, or weekends depending on program and student needs.
- A personal computer and reliable internet connection are required.
- Teaching assignments are made based on program needs and are not guaranteed from term to term.
Compensation
CAD 3,300 - 5,500 per course, depending on course level, professional registration, and experience.
