Job Description:
City University of Seattle's School of Education and Leadership is seeking an experienced educator with an interest in research and evidence-informed practice to serve as a part-time Associate Faculty member in our Master of Education (MEd) in Leadership program for course ECU 504 - Graduate Research & Methodology.
This course helps educators develop the skills to find, evaluate, understand, and apply educational research to real-world practice. Students explore different approaches to research, learn how to distinguish high-quality scholarship from less reliable sources, and develop the skills to use research to better understand educational questions and improve student learning.
As an Associate Faculty member, you will help graduate students become thoughtful and critical consumers of educational research. You will guide students in developing research questions, evaluating scholarly sources, and connecting research findings to the needs of their students and educational settings. Through practical assignments and applied learning, students will build a foundation for using research to inform meaningful improvements in educational practice.
In this course, students will:
- Identify key characteristics of scholarly research, including research methodologies and methods
- Develop focused and appropriate research questions
- Evaluate the quality and credibility of educational research
- Determine the relevance of scholarly sources to specific research questions
- Synthesize multiple scholarly sources into a literature review
- Apply research knowledge and best practices to support student learning and improve educational practice
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced educator who can make research accessible and meaningful to practicing educators and who understands how evidence can inform decisions in real-world educational settings.
Requirements:
Required qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or a closely related field
- Experience as a K-12 classroom teacher, instructional coach, and/or school-level educational leader
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or advising graduate students
- Experience with educational research, practitioner inquiry, or evidence-informed practice
- Familiarity with research methodologies, scholarly literature, and literature review
- Experience helping educators evaluate and apply research to improve educational practice
- Experience teaching or facilitating learning in an online or hybrid environment

Salary Information:
Associate Faculty compensation ranges from $500 to $4,600 per course assigned. Compensation varies based on factors including course level (undergraduate or graduate), number of course credits, and enrollment.
