The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship brings together leading scholars in the study of strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and organizational behaviour.
Applications are invited for the post of Associate / Full Professor in Entrepreneurship within the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. You can be from any research area within Entrepreneurship. The position requires a strong record of research and demonstrated excellence in teaching and service. You will contribute to the academic mission of Imperial College London to deliver world class scholarship, education and research.
What you would be doing
You will be expected to conduct world-class research that is published in both top-tier generalist and specialist field journals and to showcase thought leadership about how entrepreneurship can drive social change and inclusion, technological advancement, environmental sustainability, and/or economic development. We are open to scholars approaching entrepreneurship research through qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed-method approaches and at micro- or macro-levels of analysis.
Major research topics of interest to the department include, but are not limited to:
- Tech entrepreneurship, including deep-tech entrepreneurship
- Impact entrepreneurship
- Entrepreneurial strategy
- Financing of new ventures
- Founding, growth, and scaling
- Entrepreneurial ecosystems
- Entrepreneurial experimentation
- Comparative entrepreneurship
- Entrepreneurial business model design
- Digital entrepreneurship
- Issues of equity, justice, and inclusion in entrepreneurial communities
- Incubators and accelerators
You will be encouraged to actively engage with the scholars and entrepreneurs in the UK and beyond, including involvement with start-ups in the Imperial Enterprise Lab in South Kensington, and its Incubator, I-Hub and ScaleSpace facilities in White City. You will also be expected to contribute to the administration of the School, to participate in the internal life of the School, and to enhance its reputation for pedagogy.
You will be expected to support and develop teaching in the Business School both through our degree programmes and executive education. In line with the School’s mission to drive global business and social transformation through the fusion of business, technology and an entrepreneurial mindset, entrepreneurship teaching is a critical component of the teaching portfolio. Entrepreneurship features prominently across our full suite of MBA programmes and in most of the Master programmes in the Business School, as well as in our teaching to undergraduates in the Business School and other faculties of Imperial.
What we are looking for
- Must hold a PhD in Management or related field or equivalent
- Have National/ International reputation (commensurate with grade)
- Track record in attracting high levels of research funding (commensurate with grade)
- Extensive experience in leading the design of research programmes
