* School of Social Science. * Part-time (40% FTE), fixed-term position from February to June 2026. * Base salary will be in the range $82,057.75 – $109,246.18 + 17% superannuation (Academic Level A). * Based at our St Lucia campus. (Brisbane)

About This Opportunity

The School of Social Science at The University of Queensland is seeking a teaching-focused Associate Lecturer in Anthropology to teach ANTH2250 Medical Anthropology in Semester 1, 2026.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching within the Anthropology program and actively engage in the collegial life of the School as a UQ citizen. This appointment is well suited to an academic with an emerging teaching profile and a commitment to innovative, student-centred learning.

Due to the short-term, teaching-intensive nature of this Brisbane-based role, applicants will be required to work on campus at the St Lucia campus for the duration of the appointment.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
  • Other: Comply with University policies and legislative requirements, including the Code of Conduct, WHS obligations, sustainability practices, ESOS requirements, and UQ strategic frameworks.

About You

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in Anthropology.
  • Demonstrated disciplinary knowledge in a relevant field of Anthropology
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels using active and flexible learning approaches, including online delivery.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in teaching teams.
  • Capability to use online learning systems and platforms (e.g. Blackboard, electronic course profiles).
  • You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
