As an Associate Lecturer in Music Theatre at VCA, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a world-class curriculum in theatre making, voice and movement training, acting, directing, writing, and dramaturgy. You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of theatre education in the Asia Pacific region, working with undergraduate students and contributing to the artistic vision of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre) program. This role offers you the chance to blend your professional experience with academic pursuits, fostering innovation in theatre education.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver Engaging Curriculum: Conduct tutorials, workshops, and seminars at the undergraduate level, contributing to the development of high-quality subject materials.
- Foster Artistic Research: Contribute to VCA's artistic research programs and engage in professional development activities to inform your teaching practice.
- Engage with the Theatre Industry: Participate in the professional arts sector, liaise with external networks, and develop collaborative partnerships to enhance the program's offerings.
- Support Student Development: Provide consultation, marking, and assessment for students, contributing to their growth as theatre professionals.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a respected theatre professional with a strong artistic practice, excellent teaching skills, and the vision to contribute to the development of innovative theatre education programs.
You may also:
- Have an established artistic practice in theatre making, voice studies, movement studies, acting, writing for performance, directing, or dramaturgy.
- Possess a Masters degree or equivalent professional experience with demonstrated research capabilities.
- Demonstrate the ability to design and deliver curricula for contemporary arts practice in theatre.
- Have a strong understanding of the professional small to medium theatre sector nationally.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
- Show a commitment to engaging with the broader theatre community and fostering partnerships.
