Associate Lecturer (Teaching Focused)
About This Opportunity
Join the School of Social Science at The University of Queensland as an Associate Lecturer (Teaching Focused) on a 0.4 FTE fixed-term appointment. This exciting opportunity will see you contribute to the undergraduate Sociology program by teaching SOCY3039: Applied Quantitative Research in Semester 2.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching: Coordinate courses, develop and deliver lectures and tutorials, assess and mark students, maintain quality of courses, mentor students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
- Citizenship and Service: Engage with the collegial life and activities of the School, including thesis marking where relevant and School ad hoc working parties, perform administrative functions, and uphold University values.
This is a teaching focused position.
About You
Applicants should possess a PhD or near completion of a PhD in Sociology. Additionally, you will demonstrate:
- Demonstrated knowledge in a relevant field or sub-field of Sociology.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effective courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels using active learning and flexible approaches to teaching, including teaching online.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in teaching and learning.
- Capacity to use a range of online systems and platforms in teaching and learning (e.g. Blackboard, electronic course profiles etc.).
