About the opportunity
The Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Outdoor and Environmental Education is an innovative educator-researcher who will contribute to high-quality teaching, curriculum development and impactful research aligned with the University of Tasmania’s mission. The role involves delivering programs across online and face-to-face modes, teaching within Outdoor and Environmental Education and related areas, and supporting excellence in teacher education, research and engagement. The successful candidate will be committed to the role of education in helping individuals and communities flourish, with experience in Initial Teacher Education highly regarded.
What you’ll do:
- Contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Education and related areas within ITE and non-ITE programs for Level A.
- Develop, coordinate and deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Education and related areas within ITE and non-ITE programs for Level B.
- Contribute to innovative curriculum design and continuous improvement of learning experiences that support student success and graduate readiness.
- Coordinate and provide academic leadership to support teaching staff where required.
- Undertake high-quality research/scholarly activities under limited supervision either independently or as a member of a team, publish research findings as sole author or in collaboration, to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level A.
- Undertake high-quality research of national and increasingly of international standing, to meet and regularly exceed the University’s research performance expectations for Level B.
- Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
What we’re looking for:
- A four-year tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent qualifications and/or professional experience for level A.
- A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field for Level B.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting and delivering high-quality teaching and learning at least two of bush, alpine, river, coastal, and / or rock environments for Level A.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering high-quality teaching and learning in at least two of the following environments: bush, alpine, river, coastal, and / or rock for Level B.
- A demonstrated ability and understanding of research in the field of Outdoor and Environmental Education, demonstrated by a strong academic record for Level A.
- Demonstrated record of, and ongoing commitment to, research and writing that has achieved national recognition and made worthwhile contributions to the field of Outdoor and Environmental Education for Level B.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering and supporting high-quality University level teaching and learning in Outdoor & Environmental Education for Level A.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering and supporting high-quality University level teaching and learning in Outdoor & Environmental Education for Level B.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at either Academic Level A or Academic Level B and will have a total remuneration package of up to $155,885 comprising base salary within the range of $83,198 to $133,235 plus 17% superannuation.
