About the Opportunity
Job Summary
The Medical Director is responsible for representing and advocating for the Physician Assistant Program in the medical community. Primary responsibilities include leadership, teaching, and participation in all aspects of curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. The Medical Director will also assist in maintaining accreditation standards and participating in any activities necessary to maintain Northeastern at the forefront of Physician Assistant (PA) education.
The position of Medical Director is a non-tenure track faculty position. The position is a 52-week, 0.1 FTE, non-tenure track faculty position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
- Currently or previously licensed PA or osteopathic or allopathic physician
- Currently or previously board-certified
- Licensed or eligible for licensure within the state of Washington
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
- Evidence of successful teaching, ideally in physician assistant education
- Knowledgeable about the PA role and experienced with the PA scope of practice
- Strong interpersonal communication, organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with computer technology (e.g., word processing, email, spreadsheets, databases)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred
- Prior administrative experience
- Strategic planning and budgeting experience
- Resource allocation and assessment planning experience
- Program accreditation experience
- Experience integrating technology into the educational experience
- Experience with online learning
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Actively participate in the program, including:
- Develop and review program competencies to meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role
- Assist the Program Director in ensuring that both didactic and supervised clinical instruction meet current medical practice standards
- Coordinate, teach, and instruct courses based on areas of content and clinical expertise
- Participate in program accreditation activities, including ongoing program review and the continuous self-study process
- Participate in review and revision of program competencies
- Participate in clinical site development
- Participate in curriculum development and curriculum evaluation
- Participate in program goals, mission statement, and program values review and revision
- Perform additional assignments at the direction of the Program Director of the Physician Assistant Program
