Description

The Department of English at The University of Texas at Austin, in conjunction with the New Writers Project and the Michener Center for Writers, seeks to hire a tenured fiction writer with a distinguished publishing record at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

Job duties include:

• Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
• Directing honors theses and MFA reports
• Mentoring talented student writers
• Providing service to the department, college, the New Writers Project, the Michener Center, and the university
• Maintaining a high level of publishing productivity

We seek candidates with a record meriting a Professorship or Distinguished Chair in Creative Writing (Fiction).

Qualifications

• MFA, PhD, or equivalent (as demonstrated through an outstanding publishing career)
• Minimum of two published books of fiction
• Substantial teaching experience

Preferred qualifications:

• A substantial and high-quality publication record
• A national reputation in fiction writing
• An excellent teaching record
