"Associate or Full Professor in Environmental Health"

Université de Montréal’s School of Public Health (ESPUM) is the only French-language school of public health in the world and the only one in Canada accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). It attracts 1,500 students focused on improving population health through education and research.

The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (DSEST) covers topics like risk analysis, toxicology, and environmental epidemiology.

As part of the 2026 Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC) Program, DSEST is recruiting an Associate or Full Professor to advance research and teaching in Environmental Health, particularly in One Environmental Health. The chair offers $500,000 per year for eight years.

Day-to-day responsibilities: You will teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, conduct research, and collaborate with partners. Responsibilities include:

• Leveraging leadership in Environmental Health aligned with Canadian priorities.
• Fostering research co-creation with academic, public, private, and non-profit sectors.
• Applying for infrastructure funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).
• Teaching in DSEST programs and the interfaculty doctoral program in One Health.
• Supervising students and leading major projects.
• Contributing to departmental and faculty activities.

Qualifications:

• Eligibility for the CERC Program and 2026 competition.
• PhD in a relevant discipline like public health or environmental health.
• Outstanding expertise and international recognition in environmental health and One Health.
• Strong leadership in international networks.
• Ability to lead research teams and deliver social benefits.
• Interdisciplinary teaching and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in French or commitment to learn it.
