Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Faculty of Humanities of Kyushu University (Fukuoka, Japan) is accepting applications for the position of an Associate Professor (准教授).
Work content and job description
(1) Graduate Courses for the Faculty of Humanities: Topics in Japanese Intellectual History, Topics in Japanese Literature, and Survey courses in Japanese literature from the applicant's specialization; Thesis Supervision; and related courses.
(1) Undergraduate Courses for the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation (ISI, 共創学部, https://kyoso.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/): Courses in Thought, Ethics, and Philosophy; independent project supervision.
(2) Faculty members of the Graduate School of Humanities may also be assigned to teach courses in the Joint Graduate School of Digital Humanities, established on April 1, 2025.
Notes: The overall teaching load shall be proportionate to that of the other faculty members in the department. Details will be negotiated after hire.
This position involves a joint appointment with the Faculty of Humanities and the School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be expected to attend the regular faculty meetings, perform committee responsibilities, examination supervision, student advising, and other duties in both organizations in accordance with their respective appointment configuration.
