Associate Professor in Public Health

Associate Professor in Public Health

We are seeking applications for an Associate Professor to join the School of Health Sciences to play a significant role in the development of public health teaching and research across the University of East Anglia.

You will make a full contribution to our public health portfolio, including teaching, assessment, supervision and student engagement; and support innovative research and knowledge exchange across the public health agenda. We can offer a supportive context to support your emerging academic leadership, including close partnerships with health systems, Norwich Research Park, and access to world-leading research centres aligned with the public health agenda.

As Deputy Course Director you will lead on the expansion of the Masters in Global Public Health, a cross-institutional programme that provides opportunities for students to explore inter-disciplinary issues as they relate to public health on a global scale.

You will be appointed to a research focused role (ATR) or a teaching focused role (ATS), dependent upon skills and experience. ATR candidates will be expected to contribute to the internationally leading public health focused research activity in the School.

A good first degree, a higher degree in a public health related discipline, and a PhD (ATR only), with proven experience of high quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching relevant to the subject is essential. You will have evidence of leadership of course development and the use of a range of both innovative and traditional pedagogical practices.

This full-time post is available from 1 December 2025 on an indefinite basis. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at Enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service, including a check of the Child and Adult Barred Lists. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or vulnerable adults.

We strongly encourage applicants from underrepresented groups to apply, including candidates who are female, disabled, Black, Asian or from an ethnic minority and/or LGBTQ+. We welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part-time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days, can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 3 October 2025

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
