Offer Description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering at Kyoto Institute of Technology invites applications for an Associate Professor position in an interdisciplinary research area that integrates photonic and electronic materials with device physics.
We seek a candidate who can conduct pioneering research across multiple fields, without being confined to a particular academic discipline or class of materials, such as organic or inorganic chemistry, or organic or inorganic materials. We welcome applicants with outstanding achievements in a broad range of research areas, including the synthesis of materials such as organic semiconductors, carbon materials, conducting polymers, and organic–inorganic perovskites; the control of molecular orientation and crystal growth; the characterization of optical and electronic properties; the elucidation of mechanisms underlying functional properties, including electrocatalytic activity; and device applications.
The successful candidate will also be expected to make interdisciplinary use of this knowledge, expertise, and range of research methodologies to pursue integrated research extending from the creation of novel functional materials to the design and development of advanced photonic and electronic devices.
This position is intended for an individual who will play a central role in the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering. We therefore seek a candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to education and research and who will actively and collaboratively contribute to the administration and management of the Faculty and to KIT.
