Associate Professor of Clinical Practice – Palliative Medicine
The Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine in the Department of Medicine is recruiting a part-time (0.6 FTE) Associate Professor of Clinical Practice who will specialize in Palliative Medicine. Patient care efforts will primarily occur at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) Northwest Campus, with additional care efforts performed at the UWMC Montlake Campus, Harborview Medical Center (HMC), and Fred Hutch Cancer Center (Fred Hutch). Rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
We are seeking a Palliative Medicine physician to provide palliative care at UWMC Northwest. The successful candidate will provide care as an inpatient attending on the Palliative Care Service at UWMC Northwest with consultative care efforts at UWMC Montlake and HMC. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in teaching, scholarship, or service which is considered integral to the Clinical Practice track. This position may include bedside teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1–June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July–June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.
The anticipated start date of this position is January 2026 or later.

The full-time base salary range for this position at the associate professor rank will be $23,000–$28,000 per month ($276,000–$336,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

Applicants must have a medical degree (MD/DO or foreign equivalent), be hospice and palliative medicine board certified or board eligible (or foreign equivalent), and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
