Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering (start fall 2027)

Position Summary
The Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering is a tenure-track faculty
position responsible for teaching undergraduate courses and laboratories in electrical engineering and related areas within the B.S. in
Engineering program. The faculty member will contribute to curriculum development, lecture and laboratory instruction, and student design
projects while supporting the growth of a new engineering program seeking ABET accreditation within a liberal arts environment.
The
position includes responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service consistent with the expectations of faculty at Augustana
University. The faculty member will contribute to the development of an ABET-aligned engineering curriculum and will participate in program
assessment and continuous improvement activities.
Primary Responsibilities Teaching
- Teach and create undergraduate courses and laboratories in electrical engineering and related areas such as circuits, electronics,
digital systems, or instrumentation. - Contribute to introductory engineering and interdisciplinary engineering courses as
needed. - Develop and implement laboratory experiences that support hands-on engineering education.
- Mentor undergraduate
students in design projects, including capstone design experiences. - Advise undergraduate students in the engineering program.
Program Development and Assessment
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the
engineering curriculum. - Participate in program assessment and continuous improvement activities consistent with ABET accreditation
standards. - Assist with development of laboratory infrastructure and instructional equipment for electrical engineering coursework
with the intent of ABET accreditation.
Scholarship
- Maintain a habit of scholarship according
to Augustana's tenure expectations. - Engage undergraduate students in research, design, or applied engineering projects.
Service
- Participate in service activities within the department, college, university, and broader
professional community. - Contribute to outreach and engagement with regional industry and community partners related to engineering
education. - Support activities that strengthen the engineering program and its connections to the liberal arts.
Required Qualifications
- Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering
discipline. - Academic or industry experience aligned with appointment at the Associate level.
- Demonstrated ability to teach
undergraduate electrical engineering courses. - Ability to contribute to laboratory-based and project-based engineering
instruction. - Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration within a liberal
arts environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in an undergraduate-focused
institution. - Experience developing or teaching engineering laboratory courses.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate research
or design projects. - Experience in preparing for/maintaining ABET accreditation
