Associate Professor of Electronic Engineering
The Opportunity
Colorado School of Mines, a public R1 research university focused on applied science and engineering, invites applications for a Tenure Track Associate Professor faculty position in Power Electronics in the Department of Electrical Engineering.
This position is an integral part of Mines’ strategic effort to grow in areas where the university already has significant strengths. Mines is a leading institution for education and research related to its Earth, Energy, and Environment mission.
The position is anticipated to begin in August 2026. Qualified candidates with research specialization in power electronics and advanced energy systems are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants may also collaborate through joint projects and shared students with the nearby National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), also based in Golden.
Responsibilities
- Develop a strong, active externally funded research program leading to scholarly publications
- Develop and deliver course materials to undergraduate and graduate students in traditional, hybrid, and online formats
- Demonstrate teaching excellence and high-impact teaching pedagogy
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
- Establish and/or maintain a strong publication record
- Contribute institutionally and professionally through active service
- Collaborate across campus and contribute to service in Power Electronics Systems and Advanced Energy Systems
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a closely related discipline from an accredited program by the time the appointment begins
- Experience in academia, research laboratories, and/or industry with notable accomplishments in a related field
- Evidence or potential for interdisciplinary collaboration or engagement with power electronics
- Established and currently funded program at the Associate Professor level with strong potential for continuance
- Proven record of success in teaching, research, and service
