Associate Professor of Real Estate or Full Professor of Real Estate
The Department of Finance in the School of Business at the College of Charleston invites applications for a tenured position as the inaugural Buono Endowed Professor of Real Estate, starting August 2026. The applicant can also have an opportunity to serve as the Director of the Carter Real Estate Center.
This full-time position will be at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level, mainly serve the Commercial Real Estate Finance program, and have a normal teaching load of 2/2, teaching courses such as Real Estate Market Analysis, Real Estate Feasibility Analysis, and other Real Estate-related courses assigned by the department. Being capable of teaching finance courses like real estate finance and investment is a plus.
The candidate is expected to periodically review and assess Real Estate-related programs and curriculum, such as the Commercial Real Estate Finance major and the Real Estate minor/concentration. The individual will initiate, and lead curriculum changes needed to improve these programs. The candidate is also expected to advise the students in these programs and help with their placements. A candidate with extensive professional experience is a plus.
The candidate is expected to maintain an active research agenda and AACSB Scholarly Academics (SA) faculty status. Being capable to engage junior faculty on research and publish in reputable real estate or finance journals is a plus.
The candidate who fills this position will also have an opportunity to serve as the Director of Carter Real Estate Center. In this role, the candidate is expected to actively engage real estate professionals to benefit the school and students, raise funds to support the real estate programs and enrich students’ experience, and oversee the daily operations of the Carter Real Estate Center.
Qualifications:
Required: An earned Doctorate degree in Real Estate, Finance, or a related area from a nationally accredited university.
Preferred: Extensive professional experience in commercial real estate; outstanding in teaching, being capable of teaching finance courses like real estate finance and investment; strong research record, being capable of engaging junior faculty on research and publishing in reputable real estate or finance journals; prior service experience in a department, college, and/or professional community.
