Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Life and Planetary Evolution Group in the Department of Earth and Space Science, Graduate School of Science, conducts research exploring the universality and diversity of life through studies of the four-billion-year history of life on Earth and the environments and conditions in which life could exist in the Universe. We are seeking an Associate Professor who is enthusiastic about advancing research and education in this field. We particularly welcome applicants with a solid grounding in physics who are eager to elucidate the coevolution of Earth and life, as well as the universality and diversity of life, while drawing on perspectives from biology and information science.

Earth and planetary science (e.g., the coevolution of Earth's surface environment and life, material cycling across the atmosphere, ocean, and biosphere, and biophysics)
• Conduct research in the specialized field described above using experimental, theoretical, information-science-based, and other approaches.
• In collaboration with faculty members of the Life and Planetary Evolution Group, teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students in the specialized field described above and related fields.
• Perform administrative duties for the Graduate School of Science and the University of Osaka.
