About the Associate Professor Role (Level D)
The Associate Professor in Biochemistry will play a pivotal leadership role within the College of Medicine and Public Health, focusing on metabolic, cellular, or computational biochemistry. This position combines high-level teaching and research responsibilities, including curriculum development, innovative teaching strategies, and fostering partnerships that enhance learning and research outcomes. The role also involves driving impactful research, securing competitive funding, and mentoring early-career academics and research students.
- Lead and deliver high-quality teaching programs in biochemistry, ensuring an exceptional student experience.
- Drive innovative, ethical research aligned with the College’s strengths, including securing external grants and publishing in top-tier journals.
- Provide academic leadership within the College and contribute to national and international biochemistry initiatives.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and research collaborators globally.

You are an accomplished academic with a passion for advancing biochemistry education and research. You bring a proven record of leadership in teaching and curriculum development, coupled with an internationally recognised research profile. - Hold a PhD (or equivalent) and demonstrate extensive expertise in metabolic, cellular, or computational biochemistry.
- Possess a distinguished track record in innovative teaching and curriculum development, including experience with flexible delivery methods.
- Maintain an internationally recognised research profile, evidenced by high-quality publications and success in securing competitive grants.
- Exhibit strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with experience mentoring early-career academics and supervising research students.
About the Professor Role (Level E)
As Professor of Biochemistry, you will provide exceptional academic leadership in research, teaching, and community engagement within the College of Medicine and Public Health. With a focus on metabolic, cellular, or computational biochemistry, this role is pivotal in advancing the College’s reputation as a national and international leader in education and research. You will mentor emerging academics, secure competitive research funding, and foster collaborations that strengthen the discipline and the University’s impact.
- Lead innovative teaching and curriculum development in biochemistry using contemporary and flexible delivery methods.
- Drive internationally recognised research, securing significant external grants and publishing in high-impact journals.
- Mentor early and mid-career researchers, supervise doctoral students, and grow the research student cohort.
- Build strategic partnerships and provide leadership in college governance, policy development, and academic standards.
