About us

QUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a 'real world' focus. We are an ambitious and collaborative institution that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.

The School of Architecture and Built Environment delivers programs, knowledge and technical skills focused on designing, planning, constructing, and managing the built environment sustainably. The School combines complementary disciplinary strengths in architecture and the built environment with education and research in partnership with industry to solve real-world problems. We offer many courses in the School, including the Bachelor of Architectural Design and Bachelor of Built Environment (Honours) with undergraduate majors in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, and Urban and Regional Planning. We also deliver courses in Architecture and Project Management at postgraduate levels. Most of our courses across the School are professionally accredited and must maintain high standards in learning, teaching and research.

What you need to succeed

  1. Completion of a doctoral qualification or equivalent experience in Interior Design. Evidence of real world impact in interior design will be highly regarded.
  2. Record of outstanding research leadership in the field of interior design, and built environment, including an internationally recognised track record of external grants and impactful research outputs.
  3. Demonstrated track record in high-quality teaching within the architectural disciplines (interior, architecture, landscape) including an ability to develop scholarly and innovative approaches to teaching and learning and a demonstrated capacity to teach into studio orientated classes.
  4. Demonstrated strategic approach, as well as the ability to be adaptive and future-focused to position QUT at the forefront of interior design education and research
  5. Excellent track record of Higher Education teaching (e.g. evidence of high level of student satisfaction).
  6. Proven ability in staff management and a demonstrated ability to motivate and lead colleagues to grow and work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team, managing existing resources to maximum effect while building capacity for the future
  7. Track record of engagement and collaborations with industry, government, and community
