The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Washington invites applications for a full time, associate professor with tenure position with an anticipated start date of September 2026. This position will be expected to lead research that complements and extends the department’s current activities in the molecular basis of disease, cell signaling and all aspects of pharmacology.

Our academic mission is to explore the action of drugs and their role in the treatment of disease. Consequently, faculty research interests encompass drug discovery and precision medicine, gene architecture and action, intracellular signaling, molecular basis for disease, neurobiology and behavior, and protein structure. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching enterprise of the department and partner with other department faculty in service and outreach activities within the University of Washington School of Medicine. Our departmental values encourage the translation of these ideas from the lab to the clinic. The Department of Pharmacology within the School of Medicine has extensive collaborations with the Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, Diabetes Research Institute as well as ties with other institutions and industry in the Pacific Northwest region.

The candidate will be eligible for tenure and will be eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30).

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong research program, to contribute to the teaching responsibilities of the department through existing or new courses, and to contribute to the department’s commitment to service within the School of Medicine, the University of Washington or the greater Seattle community.

The Department of Pharmacology values diverse experiences and perspectives. We strive to create a welcoming and respectful learning environment that promotes access and opportunity for all. We are firmly committed to supporting activities that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors $12,500 - $13,750 per month ($150,000 - $165,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
