Offer Description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
NIPS is an inter-university research institute in the field of basic medicine dedicated to clarifying the functions and mechanisms of the human body. NIPS promotes research on functional mechanisms and structure-function relationships across multiple levels of biological organization, ranging from molecules to whole organisms, and further to interactions between individuals. Moreover, by exploring linkages across these levels and interactions between different functional systems, NIPS seeks to deepen understanding of biological principles and homeostasis. NIPS also aims to apply these findings to elucidate pathophysiology, thereby contributing to the establishment of a foundation for translational research that bridges basic and clinical medicine. To accelerate these efforts, NIPS will establish the Section for Human Physiology and Clinical Investigation within the Center for Research Collaboration and further strengthen its partnerships with clinical medicine.
Work content and job description
In this recruitment, NIPS seeks researchers with an academic foundation in clinical research, access to clinical samples and patient data, and the ability to advance life science research through collaborative projects both within and outside NIPS by integrating these clinical resources with the Institute’s research resources. The two Associate Professors to be recruited will each be expected to establish and lead an independent laboratory upon appointment. In addition, as faculty members of The Graduate University for Advanced Studies, SOKENDAI, they will be expected to actively engage in graduate education. Please note that, following their appointment, each laboratory will be eligible to recruit one Project Assistant Professor or Project Research Staff.
