Winston-Salem State University (WSSU), a historically black constituent institution of the University of North Carolina, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its associate vice chancellor for financial services and deputy chief financial officer. This is an on-site leadership role.

The associate vice chancellor for financial services and deputy chief financial officer (AVCFS) serves as the senior administrator responsible for the university's financial services operations and functions as the deputy chief financial officer. Reporting to the chief operating officer (COO), the AVCFS serves as the COO's principal deputy for financial administration and provides leadership and oversight of the university's financial operations including the controller's office, financial reporting, general accounting, accounts payable, student accounts and cashiering, purchasing, contracts and grants, financial planning and budget, financial systems, tax compliance, treasury operations, debt administration, endowment accounting, and financial analytics.
The salary range for the position is $155,000-$165,000.
Qualifications
A master's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field and eight years of progressively responsible financial management experience are required.
Candidates must possess demonstrated experience leading multiple financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and personnel management. Knowledge of governmental accounting, internal controls, ERP systems, and public-sector financial administration is also required. Candidates with the certified public accountant (CPA) designation and experience within the UNC system are preferred.
