"Asst/Assoc/Full Professor of the Practice - SELF Program"

Position Overview

The Self Engineering Leadership Fellows (SELF) Program in the School of Engineering at the University of Kansas is seeking candidates for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professors of Practice in engineering leadership, management, business, and/or entrepreneurship. The target start date is December 1, 2025. These are academic year appointments with possible summer salary. Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Appointment level depends on scholarly, teaching, and practical experience. Positions are non-tenured, three-year terms with renewal possible. Focus is on instructional duties, requiring outstanding teaching and mentoring skills. Responsibilities include facilitating SELF seminar courses and teaching one or two classes per semester in the School of Engineering.

Established in 2007, the SELF Program develops goal-oriented engineering graduates with business skills. It supports students through mentoring, coursework, seminars, and leadership opportunities. The program currently has 140 fellows and over 330 alumni.

Job Duties

• 50% SELF Program Teaching: Develop curriculum, facilitate seminars, mentor fellows, and create co-curricular opportunities.
• 30% Departmental Teaching: Teach 1-2 courses per semester and improve curriculum.
• 20% Program Administration: Incorporate trends in entrepreneurship, maintain records, evaluate fellows, and assist with events.

Required Qualifications

For Assistant Professor: Bachelor’s in engineering or related field, Master’s in engineering, management, MBA, or related, and 10 years of practical experience.

For Associate Professor: Meet Assistant requirements plus 15 years of experience.

For Professor of the Practice: Meet Assistant requirements plus 20 years of experience.
