Asst/Assoc/Professor - Infectious Disease
Position Description
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Division of Infectious Diseases Faculty are at the forefront of clinical, translational, and basic science research in the pathogenesis and treatment of infectious diseases from inpatient treatment of complicated, multi-drug resistant organisms, to outpatient management of HIV and hepatitis C. Working alongside our infectious disease pharmacist, our team is also actively engaged in the field of stewardship, helping UMC earn the title of Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence. Faculty also hold Medical Director roles for the TTUHSC Office of Institutional Health, Infection Prevention and Control, and the UMC Ambulatory Infusion Center.
Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Major/Essential Functions
- Obtains patient health histories, examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
- Instructs and counsels patients and families regarding plans of care, compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenances.
- Developing strategies to prevent the spread of infections within hospitals and communities.
- Manages both acute and chronic cases in hospital or clinic settings.
- Educate the next generation of clinicians by delivering comprehensive education to residents and Texas Tech medical students.
