ASST RES SCIENTIST
The position at the rank of assistant research scientist will work in the area of traffic flow theory and operations for connected and automated transportation systems. This is a critical important research area given the rapid pace of development and deployment of highly automated vehicles.
Responsibilities will include collaborating with faculty, staff, and students on research projects, initiating research projects and programs by soliciting and obtaining funding, interacting with sponsors and external collaborators, writing technical reports, conference papers, and journal articles, and presenting at conferences and technical meetings. Candidates at the Assistant Research Scientist level will have demonstrated the potential for scholarly research, possibly as part of a larger research program, and will have a track record of high-quality peer reviewed publications and participation in relevant academic or professional meetings. The intellectual depth, innovation and promise of the candidates for scholarly research are of high priority of this position.
The candidate should have a PhD in Transportation Engineering or a relevant field. The position also requires in-depth practical knowledge of traffic signal control, automated driving systems, and connected vehicle systems. Experiences on the development of traffic control algorithms with vehicle trajectory data are preferred.
This is a three-year term-limited position with possible renewal based on funding extension.
