Position Responsibilities
This non-tenure (term) Faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics will primarily teach applied pharmaceutical sciences content spanning drug development, dosage form design and manufacturing, drug delivery, pharmaceutical analysis, quality control, pharmacokinetics, and related content in the undergraduate BSPS Degree Program.
Teaching
The Faculty Member will have teaching responsibilities in didactic, laboratory, and experiential education courses in the undergraduate BSPS Degree Program. Possible course assignments may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Pharmaceutical Sciences, Molecules to Medicines, Drug Dosage Form Development, Analytical Methods in Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory, Drug Dosage Form Development Laboratory, Molecular and Cellular Therapeutics, and the 2-semester Capstone and Seminar courses.
Scholarship
The Faculty Member will conduct scholarship (broadly defined) in the area of Pharmaceutics (broadly defined), potentially through collaborations with established faculty members in the Department, SOP, University, or externally.
Service
The Faculty Member will serve on departmental, School, and/or University committees as assigned, as well as in a professional capacity in their field.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or related discipline
- Post-doctoral or advanced training experience in formulation science, pharmacokinetics, analytical science, pharmaceutical drug development, for the treatment of human diseases or related areas OR 5+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical Industry or an Allied Field (Life Sciences, Biotechnology, etc)
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
