College/Department Information

Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the normal business hours may be required) Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position Recruitment Period: 9/15/2025 - 9/22/2025 Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some of our half-time (or more) employees. Job Summary

This position will assist the Head Coach in administering all phases of the Track and Field/Cross Country program. Primary duties include recruiting, team travel and equipment, and practice and game coaching. Other duties include monitoring the academic progress of the student athletes, helping in the development of team unity and individual character, and representing the department and institution to internal and external constituents. The position will fully comply with institutional, PBC, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

COACHING AND ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT: Assist in planning and leading daily training sessions tailored to event groups (sprints, distance, jumps, throws, hurdles, etc.). Provide individualized feedback and performance analysis to student-athletes. Support athlete development by implementing injury prevention strategies and working collaboratively with athletic trainers and strength coaches. ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Contribute to program planning, including scheduling, budgeting, and equipment inventory. Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Collaborate with other athletic department staff to promote the program and support broader athletic department goals. RECRUITING: Develop a good relationship with the coaches and contacts of high schools, junior colleges, clubs and community-sponsored groups. Contact and evaluate local, state, national and international prospective student athletes. Conduct official and unofficial visits on campus. Maintain knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules to pass the annual certification test. Coordinate recruiting efforts with NCAA Compliance Officer as required. : Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline with one year of related experience in coaching. CPR certification completion within one month of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills. ABILITIES Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Conditions of Employment

All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University. If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle. For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation. All employees are responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of sensitive [patient, student, employee, financial, business, etc.] information by exercising sound judgment and adhering to cybersecurity and privacy policies during their employment and beyond.

Credit Check

This position will require the acquisition of a P-Card and/or handle cash, credit or other sensitive information and will require a satisfactory Consumer Credit check as a condition of employment.

Driver's License Statement

The Human Resources Division will request a driver's history report for the identified top candidate(s) for this position. We will initiate this through our Background Check Vendor; this report will come from the Department of Motor Vehicles. The selected candidate must have a valid driver's license.
