The Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics Program at Michigan State University invites applications to join our faculty/staff community dedicated to educating and mentoring the next generation of Medical Laboratory Scientists. This is a Fixed Term Faculty position (non-tenure) at a rank commensurate with experience. The appointment will be an academic year, nine-month position, opportunities for summer employment and/or clinical activities may be accommodated. This individual will be responsible for in-person and online instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level providing didactic and practical experiences. The teaching load can be 3 courses per semester but will reflect other duties; additional responsibilities include advising, professional engagement, service, and outreach. The laboratory discipline taught depend upon candidate’s expertise and BLD program need. The salary and rank are negotiable and commensurate with experience.

Required qualifications:

• A doctoral degree in biological sciences, public health, education, health sciences, or related field.
• Hold a clinical certification/credential (such as MLS, M, MB, etc.) or be certification eligible. For more information on eligibility/routes to certification, click here.

• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a team

Desired qualifications:

• Knowledge of or experience with discipline-based education research, scholarship of teaching and learning, and/or scholarly approaches to curriculum development
• Experience teaching in a relevant field as an instructor of record
• Professional experience developing and/or disseminating knowledge in a relevant field through research, outreach, publication, or presentations
• Participation in professional societies (such as ASCLS, ASCP, etc.)
• Working experience in the medical laboratory
• Specific experience in hematology, immunology, molecular diagnostics, and scientific writing
